Dear Hartomo

Thank you for second letter. It is interesting to read about the farming tools used by farmers in our village.

Unlike the farmers in our village, most farmers in our country use machines to help the work. The machines are very useful since most farms are very big. They use tractors to plow the land. Another machine is a seed drill, it makes holes in the ground, then it drops seed into them. It may even drop a small amount of fertilizer with each seed. Farmers with large farms sometimes use planes to plant seed. They also use planes to spray chemical onto the rice fields. When harvest time comes they also use a machine called a combine to cut the rice. It also separates the rice kernels from the stalks. You know that the combine can harvest more grain than 200 people working by land.

Well, that’s all for this time. I am looking forward to receiving another letter from you.

Yesterday my aunty, Latifah, took me to Jawa Timur Park in Batu. It was amazing. Text for no 10-13

 Dear editor,

I am sick and tired of the traffic in this city. There are too many cars on the road now-days, and most of them have only one or to persons in them.

Another problem is the buses. They are so old and slow that nobody wants to take them. They are noisy and very dirty. You can’t event see out the windows!

Also, the taxi drivers are rude. They never know where they are going, and they take a long time to get someplace. Taxis are expensive, too. What are we going to do?

Dear Egar,

I am very sorry for this late reply. I have just returned from my hometown. I was on a holiday, but I did not really enjoy my stay there. Things were not the same as they used to be.

When I was a child, I used to swim and go fishing with my brother and my friends in the river near my house. I liked the river because the water was clear and there were a lot of fish in it.

Now, the river is full of garbage and the water is turbid. The fish are gone and the area around the river is dirty. There are no children swimming and fishing in the river because the water is ominous. The chemical waste from the factories makes it poisonous.

To: Editor of “YOUNG MAGAZINE”

Can’t your magazine do something about the custom of hitchhiking?

On a recent automobile trip I counted at least fifty young people standing beside the road,

asking for rides. Many of them were young women. Don’t they understand how dangerous it is

to get into a car driven by a stranger? What do they know about the driver’s character or ability

of drive? Nothing.

Many of these hitchhikers probably come from good families. Don’t their parents teach
